Great Day

-Went to work to find get a surprise employee evaluation. Turns out I have absolutely nothing I need to work on. The conversation ended with me getting a pay raise to 8.25 per hour. My job doesn’t usually give pay raises. So, now I will be making 500 dollars per month before taxes are taken out. Hellz yeah.

-Letter from the dean came saying that I made it on the university’s dean list as well as the dean list for applied sciences. I guess I get a pin for that achievement? Sweet! lol

-Side note: I am completely obsessed with Love Game by Lady Gaga. Still waiting on my micro lab partner to burn me her CD. I feel like I have been getting all of my sexuality out by living vicariously through trashy tv shows and sexy music videos. It actually is a pretty effective substitute.

Shush Girl, Shush Your Lips

April 22, 2009 at 11:39 pm (friends, music, school, self improvement) (, , , , )

Do the Helen Keller, and talk with your hips.

These past few weekends have been completely amazing, disregarding the infection and severe rash, but who cares about that stuff. I have experienced so many of those “perfect” moments lately, it just feels like my life is a perfect moment.

Last Thursday–another long night of dancing the night away until my back was so sore I could hardly hold myself up. Wow.

Friday night just was indescribable. My friends and I went party hopping and ended up at this “mansion” which was really not even a large house, on the opposite side of muncie. Yes, we walked those many miles. We walked in, not knowing anyone, and immediately realized we didn’t exactly belong. It was a party hosted by a ton of theater majors, who seemed particularly fond of popular 80’s songs. It was fantastic. Everyone jumped up and down together to our favorite songs that we grew up listening too…u can’t get better than that…

LaFollette ended up getting evacuated (again) around 3am, so we decided to stay the night in our newly met friend’s room–4 girls squashed on a slab of wood covered with a slight cushion. Yes, even that just seemed perfect. 3 of my best friends squished together with me, having survived another long night out on the town.

Saturday, I went out with a huge group of guys–I was the only girl. Really, that is just fabulous already. We went to get hot dogs from the famous “Carter” along with half of Ball State. Its amazing how long people will wait in line to get a 1 dollar hot dog. It was just amazing feeling like I’m apart of such a tradition, standing out there with all of my drunk peers (or so it seemed based on their behavior). The “drunk party trolley” as it has been named, kept driving around picking up partiers to be driven around town.

After eating the hot dog, we passed by a band that was playing, and it was an experience I think I will always remember. It just added once more to that content feeling of being apart of something big and beautiful as a whole. A group of college students surrounded the band, and I watched many of them bob up and down to the music in unison. It reminded me of the The American Life episode Mr. Hill showed us where a bunch of people faked being fans and described one of the fake fans as “bobbing along to the music mouthing every word.” The band was great; the crowd was great. I need to go to a concert.

I headed back to my new friend’s dorm room once more to watch the guys play some Zombie game, which actually creeped me out. Zombies are scary. But, by 5am, I was dead tired so I just fell asleep once more in my friend’s room.

I originally came to Ball State thinking, “I will never be one of those people who stay out until 5am.” But now, I can’t believe how much I would have missed if I stayed in on a regular basis. Yes, the primary function of college is to help educate me on the subjects needed for my future job, but what I have got out of it so far has been so much more than that. I can’t wait for summer classes to begin; a whole new experience, with a whole new different set of people.

My First Party

November 24, 2008 at 4:39 am (Guys, music) (, , )

Yepp, no longer a party virgin!! One of my guys, Tom, took me to Cincinnati for a formal frat party which took place on a river boat from 11pm-2am. Wow, it was beautiful, the music was great, the people were fun, what an experience. Of course, every person there was drunk except for me and Tom, but we still managed to have a great time. I can see why its easy for people to feel like they have to drink every weekend with friends, because it is much more difficult to enjoy yourself with a lot of drunk people if you are sober. People were all over me that i’ve never met before which made me a bit uncomfortable, but oh well. I thought about drinking, but the people sharing our hotel and who were driving brought down huge things of whiskey and vodka, so i figured it would be good for me to be sober and drive us back. Maybe that was just an excuse to say no though.

Tom and I shared a bed, well, kinda. He slept on top of the covers, on the complete edge of the bed. I thought guys that were interested in you were supposed to want to be close to you, but apparently not. I guess i’m just way too forward and sexual for my own good. I didn’t want to have sex with him (being a virgin and proud of it), but what is wrong with cuddling after a long romantic night? In the morning, I laid on him, which made him feel uncomfortable. I messaged him the next day and asked, “does my touchiness make you nervous or are you not interested in me that way?” and he replied, “I’m not used to moving this fast in relationships, or whatever we are.” So, how do i get mr. conservative moving without making him feel uncomfortable? Or, maybe I should be asking, how do i keep myself from making moves on him so he is more comfortable? I have some things to work out. lol

ABDC CONCERT!!

October 8, 2008 at 10:50 pm (friends, music) (, , , , , )

WOW. What an adrenaline rush. Everything about the show was amazing. The people i went with, the performances, our “hotel”, the car ride… EVERYTHING. We ended up getting there 5 minutes before the show started and missed any chance to meet the crews, but we couldn’t help it. Victoria and I left Muncie right after our 12 o’clock classes and sprinted our asses off to get there on time. It ended up being a 5 hour drive because of a wrong turn, heavy traffic, and construction. Thanks to Tom, we managed to get by. Everyone made Detroit seem like this horrible place, but i never felt unsafe, even as we were doing circles around the city trying to find the Masonic Temple.

The performances in general were exceptional. I pretty much embarrassed the hell out of myself from screaming so loud and dancing along with the crews. lol My friend video taped the whole thing and you could hear me screaming louder than anyone. lol. oh geesh.

Performances

1. Jabbawockeez (They did a wonderful job at working the crowd and staying in synch with each other)

2. ASIID (They brought a lot of energy. If i could choose, i would want to be in their crew because of their dance style.)

3. Super Cr3w (Normally, they would be my favorite, but they made a lot of errors in their performances. Still amazing though.)

My Passion (Dance)

August 1, 2008 at 7:40 pm (music)

Super Crew (They did an amazing job this week. I think their crew is at a slight disadvantage since they have no girls–its hard to make your routine sexy when you have all guys. Overall though, they are still my favorite crew based on purely skill)

So Real Cru (I think this was a pretty weak performance for them, but still good. Its kinda hard for their crew to perform poorly.)

Fanny Pack (They KILLED this week. Definitely their best performance ever. I even think they owned Super Crew this week. Missy Elliot was even blown away.)

I’m pretty sure Fanny Pack will be number one next week because of how killer their performance was this week. I’m not worried about Super Cr3w though. I think the judges love them and will pick them over So Real Cru. (It will be sad to see So Real go though because they are my second favorite.) Thank God the Boogie Bots are gone. They obviously didn’t belong with these top three based on their performance last night. ASSID you have been up there instead.

Sorry, I just figured out how to put in music videos so I’m abusing it a bit. I’ve wanted to put these up for so long though.

Is there a Heaven?

August 1, 2008 at 5:16 am (Zena, family, music)

After watching that video, i can’t help but think, maybe there is a heaven. There has to be some place where people, who didn’t get a chance to live their lives because of other people or an illness, get to fulfill their dreams. Maybe there is a God out there. It just doesn’t seem fair for human beings to completely take away some one’s chance at survival. I’m a believer in second chances, so just maybe there is such a place. At least for those who didn’t get their chance.

This one by Kenny Chesney reminds me soo much of Zena, and it makes me cry every time.

My mother and sister are back from England. Hooray! (Sarcasm) I’ve already been bombarded with constant dumb questions. I was up at 5am listening to my mother’s coffee grinder. Nice. I bought dinner for them last night. Just because I’m complaining doesn’t mean I don’t get along with them or engage my mother in her pointless questions. Okay, I’m being a bit harsh. Sorry.

I’ve gained ten pounds since last year. I need to check my eating habits. It seems like I’ve lost control over something I’m usually very disciplined about. I’ve been running though as usual about 4 miles a day.

I’ve recently been joining chat rooms and talking to people. Its really cool getting to know other people, but you get an awfully lot of nasty guys trying to get u to talk dirty to them. Bluhh..Some of them are like 40 years old. I got into a really good conversation with a 21 year old the other day about politics. lol You know that makes me happy. I recommended Cormac McCarthy to some guy who likes dark literature so i got to tell him about my two favorite teachers. (He is a philosophy teacher)

Oh yeah…!! I have my new laptop! Even if it isn’t a Mac like English majors are supposed to have. Oh well. My dad says he’s going to take this laptop and buy me a mac when the time comes. I’ve kinda grown attached to this one already though. Super Cr3w is my wallpaper!
